Sandwiched in between Gibraltar’s 2 World Cup qualifiers against Estonia and Belgium, the domestic season in the 2nd Division continued with 3 games over the weekend. On Saturday saw the clash between Leo FC and Angels whilst Sunday’s double header saw FC Hound Dogs take on Cannons and Dave Wilson’s Bruno’s Magpies face FC Olympique.
On Saturday, Angels emerged victorious with a goal in each half to set up a 2-0 win over Leo FC in a game which Leo were very much into but their lack of cutting edge in the final third ultimately cost them the game. They also finished the game with 10 men as Jaime Otero picked up 2 yellow cards as Leo were looking for an equaliser at 1-0 down. Goals from Pino Moreno and Serreto were enough to keep Angel’s unbeaten start to the season going.
On Sunday’s double header, Cannons and Hound Dogs shared the spoils in the early kick off. Cannons looked to have done enough to win the game after Guillermo Perez bundled them in front from close range and then Hound Dogs saw themselves reduced to 10 after substitute Shaun Gonzalez was sent off. However, Hound Dogs managed to stay in the game and at the death found an equaliser thanks to Jamie Fortuna‘s far post effort right at the death.

The evening game saw Dave Wilson make his touchline debut for Magpies as they faced Olympique. In what was a tight first have which ended goal less, the second half was anything but. Magpies put the clarets to the sword as Varona helped himself to a double in addition to goals from Pinto and Mousdell to send them top of the table.
