3 defenders feature in the player of the month nominations for November 2016 as the 3 games in the month provided goals from the back.
Joseph Chipolina – Lincoln Red Imps
Lincoln’s attacking left back continued with his good form over the course of November scoring 3 goals in 3 games in addition to an assist, helping Lincoln’s cause to pick up 9 points from a possible 9 to keep up with leaders Europa. Chipolina scored a tidy finish against Manchester 62 in the 6-1 romp, a vollied finish from inside the box in the 4-1 win over Lions and a brilliant hit from outside the box in the Imp’s 4-1 win over Mons Calpe.
Jean-Carlos Garcia – Lincoln Red Imps
Garcia makes it a double for Lincoln’s full backs in the list of nominees. Like Chipolina, Garcia was also in and amongst the goals in 3 games in November including a brace against the Red Devils which included a peach of a volley which flew into the top corner. Garcia also pounced on a rebounded effort from Joseph Chipolina to score against Lions.
Esteban Montes – St Joseph’s
The St Joseph’s centre back has been a real rock at the back for the Saints over the month, helping them retain their 7 match unbeaten streak throughout October and November. Aside from his strong defensive displays, the defender has also chipped in with a goal in 3 games over the past month which has seen St Joseph’s jump up to third in the table. Montes scored the opening goal with a well taken finish from just inside the box in their 6-0 thumping of Europa Point.
Michele Di Piedi – Mons Calpe
The much travelled Italian, former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder, has been a consistent performer for the Calpeans despite a difficult month which has seen them lose to Lincoln 4-1 but picked up vital wins against Europa Point (4-1) and Manchester 62 (3-0). Di Piedi scored the consolation goal against Lincoln and another in their victory over Manchester 62.
Kike Gomez – Europa
The Europa forward was once again in devastaing form during November. Kike scored 6 goals in 3 games whilst also recording 3 assists. The striker was the man of the moment as he scored 4 in Europa’s 7-0 hammering of Lynx whilst also bagging himself a brace in their 3-0 win over Gibraltar United. Kike currently leads the goal scoring charts in the Premier Division with 11 goals from 8 games.
