Managers leaving posts ahead of new season

Camacho and Wilson depart ahead of new season

The new Gibraltar football season is only days away and 2 top Premier Division clubs are already looking for new managers following departures of their head coaches for various reasons. News circulated through the Gibraltar football community earlier in the week that there had been some tension between Wilson and the Lions Gibraltar board in recent times, which promptly lead to the manager stepping down. It has been suggested that talks were then held in order to try and repair the situation which eventually proved unfruitful.

With the demise of title sponsor Enterprise Insurance, it is also believed that Lions Gibraltar are having some problems financially, with players seemingly unsettled with the goings on behind the scenes. Some players are known to be understandably upset at the situation, with some players having joined the club specifically to work under Wilson. Their latest training session was lead by long standing coach Adrian Parrall who stood in for a couple of games last season after the departure of Juanlu Herrera.

At the other side of the Queensway club house, Manchester 62 have also appeared to have parted ways with manager Juan Carlos Camacho. News broke out last night that the manager, who had only been a matter of months at the club had been dismissed to the surprise of the Spanish boss. Speaking to Diaro Huelva, Camacho claimed Manchester 62 had deceived him

They have not given me any justification for this decision. As preseason results have been good, they told me they were not happy with my training methods and my football philosophy but then to the players, they say that a new investor has come in and is looking to implement their own technical team including a new manager.

With the new Premier Division season kicking off in under the week, both clubs appear to be in turmoil as preparations seem far from ideal going into a new campaign. Manchester 62 are expected to name a new manager very soon, with rumours of Wilson making a return to the club appear seemingly untrue. It is rumoured a foreign coach with a top footballing pedigree will be appointed by the Red Devils.
