With Gibraltar in international duty next week, Match Day 6 of the Premier Division began a day earlier on Thursday night as Lincoln Red Imps destroyed Manchester 62, beating them 6-1. Full backs Jean-Carlos Garcia and Joseph Chipolina scored 3 goals between them as Garcia’s brace was rounded by a fantastic finish which flew into the back of the net making it an early contender for November’s goal of the month. George Cabrera scored another 2 goals with substitute Leon Clinton also getting himself on the score sheet. Manchester 62 replied late on with a goal from Carlos Diaz.
With Thursday’s goal fest came Friday’s snooze fest with Lions Gibraltar and Gibraltar United canceling each other out in a 0-0 draw. Lions still looking for their first win of the season whilst Gibraltar United secured their 2nd successive clean sheet.
Saturday’s doubled header saw 2 goals per game as Glacis controlled the majority of the game against Lynx in a 2-0 win as Ander Sanchez starred in a 2-0 win by scoring the first goal and then setting up Salvador Carrasco late on to seal the win for the clarets. The evening kick off saw St Joseph’s end Europa’s 100% start to the season. Ivan Lobato’s thunderous free kick was too much to handle for Europa keeper Munoz, with a fine solo goal from Guillermo Roldan required to earn Europa a point.
The final game of the weekend saw Mons Calpe return to winning ways after 2 straight defeats, by beating Europa Point 4-1. Goals from Colace, Camacho, Di Piedi and Pereira sealed a comfortable afternoon for the Calpeans as a Vela OG proving a mere consolation for Europa Point.
