Last minute goal denies Europa

Europa almost came away from the venue of the 2016/17  Europa League final undefeated. Europa fronted themselves up to hosts AIK without fear, without parking the bus and playing some attractive football which at times caused plenty of problems to their more experienced opponents. However a late goal tips the scales in favour of the Swedes ahead of the second leg but Europa will know they can come back to Gibraltar knowing they are still well and truly in the tie.

Debutant Yahaya and Toni Garcia had the good chances for Europa in the first half, whilst the best chance fell to Carrion as he found his way into the box put was caught in two minds. AIK troubled the Europa defence in spells throughout the game and finally found the break through a minute from the end of the 90 minutes. A free kick eventually fell to substitute Strandberg and nodded home to deny Europa a famous result. All to play for next week at the Victoria.
